Harris Jayaraj is a substandard music director although he imitates AR Rahman and Ilayaraja put together but when he composes for some of the best directors, he comes out well. He is known to get inspired by Hans Zimmer and James Horner taking a slice of their music to indianize them.

Harris Jayaraj is busy in both Kollywood and Tollywood. His last hit was ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ which mellifluous and melodious. Harris Jeyaraj has gotten a good film now with Shankar in the form of the remake of ‘3 idiots’ which the music director can utilize to do something better this time.

Shankar was given the first tune of ‘3 idiots’ a few days before. It could be remembered that Harris Jayaraj scored average songs for ‘Anniyan’ way back in 2005. The actors Mahesh Babu and Vijay are finalized for the lead roles in Telugu and Tamil with Vijay clinging on to the role adamantly like a school child.

This makes it difficult for the director to opt for any other director. Harris Jayaraj is better suited for commercial love stories and average films than historical films or offbeat films for which is AR Rahman is better suited for.

With all bad permutations and combinations and some not working well, ‘3 idiots’ might well become the worst of flops that Shankar might ever see in his life. Marketing and first week collections will turn out to be the saving grace for the Tamil and Telugu remake of ‘3 idiots’. At the same time, Shankar may be able to make this film a hit as well
